"Rectangular lidded box of heavy, colourless crystal with bevelled edges, produced in France in the Art Deco idiom. The lid is decorated with a Scottish terrier shown in profile on a small ground of grasses, executed in intaglio engraving and left frosted against the polished glass. Faceted bevels and thick walls give the object a pronounced optical clarity, with a faint aquamarine tint at the edges characteristic of thick-section glass. Such pieces, intended for cigarettes or toilet accessories, reflect the interwar vogue for animal subjects in decorative glass. "
