This magnificent wooden cabinet towers tall like a true example of Mamluk architecture that it is carefully designed in the style of. The base of the cabinet is a wide side table divided into three sections on which the upper part of the cabinet stands tall. The three parts consist of a wide central cupboard with a door inlaid with mother of pearl and bone in the style of an arcade of four horseshoe arches. Above the door hangs a row of gold-painted muqarnas. To the left and right of the central cupboard are two open storage spaces topped with two large horsehoe arches on the front and side. The base of the storage space is inlaid with an octagonal star in a typical Mamluk geometric style. The top of each of the three sections features a slim draw with a single knob. The surface of the base is made of polished wood darker in the colour than the remainder of the cupboard and with a two-tiered bevel around the sides. The top half cabinet is slimmer than the lower half with a main central cupboard topped with an overhanging canopy and set of crenellations. The door in the centre of the shaft is inlaid with the same arcade of arches and carved arabesque pattern and topped with another gold-painted muqarnas. Flanking the shaft on either side are two annexes topped with domes carved in the arabesque style and pointed finiales. The annex is fashioned like the kuttab of Mamluk mosques with open sides, a simple balcony supported by multi-tiered arches. The entire piece is made out of various types and shades of polished wood.
