This immaculately carved censer is made out of solid ivory. The piece stands on four legs shaped like elephant heads with floppy ears, small tusks, and trunks. The legs give way to a wide, oval-shaped box where the exterior is beautifully carved with geometric Chinese patterns. The body has two square geometric handles and the rim is decorated with a series of carved square spirals. The inside of the censer reveals a large area for the placement of incense. The piece has a lid topped of with a small dragon as a handle. The piece comes on a hardwood base in a similar pattern to the ivory itself, and has four grooves on the service to allow the ivory to stand more securely
